In spite of some other things commanding my time, I’ve finally managed to get started on the wiring for the new amplifier.
This last week I’ve been working on getting a new media server up and running on my home network. Between some simple Linux issues and navigating a server software package I’ve never used before, the task has eaten up a lot of my free time. But I finally carved out a couple of hours to get started on the amplifier wiring.
It many not look like much but this is real progress. The signal ground bus is all installed. This one is a little more complicated than most but after trying several layouts I think this one is a reasonable option. I managed to get the power transformer fully wired along with the filament wiring for the 6.3V tubes. The first discrete components are also installed; two resistors for the filament circuit virtual ground and the power supply 33µf reservoir capacitor is installed.
Next steps will be getting the output transformers primaries wired and the separate LC filters for each power stage in place. I should get to this in the next few days. Overall I’m happy with how this amplifier is progressing.
